The 500 gallon
brewers will be of primary interest to farmer/growers
and professional landscapers. The smaller BrewMaster
20 gallon brewer is appropriate for home gardeners
and small acreage farmers. The P6
(BobOLator) and P4
(Bitti), which include extractor and air pumps
only, allow owners to provide their own tanks from
10 to 100 gallon sizes. Various sized nutrient packs
are available to match the respective brewers.
Aerated
compost tea has emerged as a very promising new technology.
Seeking a method of extending the use of compost,
early innovators bubbled air into a mixture of compost
and water to produce a microbially rich solution.
This 'compost tea' as it became known demonstrated
beneficial effects on plant growth and production
while improving pest and disease control. Through
controlling the conditions in the "brewing"
process and adding micro-nutrients, a highly concentrated
solution of beneficial microbes was achieved..
The Willamette Organics BrewMaster system
utilizes a strictly air driven technology. The system
is built around a portable extractor that confines
compost in a chamber while pumping air through it
to gently separate the microbes, soluble nutrients
and growth promoting substances from the compost.
Depending on the extractor size and air supply, the
system can brew batches of between 5 and 1,500 gallons
of compost tea.
Generally accepted methods of evaluating
compost teas involve a laboratory direct count of
the microbial biomass and diversity. When brewed
appropriately with good compost, certain thresholds
of bacterial, fungal, protozoa and nematode biomass
are met or surpassed, the compost tea is considered
to be of good quality, implying its ability to improve
soil and plant performance.
The Willamette Organics BrewMaster compost
tea brewing systems, featuring the Norsen extractor,
when used with appropriate guidelines, will consistently
produce high quality compost tea. The Norsen extractors
are designed to effectively strip compost of its
microbes, plant soluble nutrients and growth promoting
compounds. The extractor incorporates sufficient
aeration and turbulence to produce good compost tea
when used according to the protocols provided. The
Norsen extractor may be used in larger systems with
addition of more air as in the 500 gallon Willamette
Organics™ BrewMaster
N500 which has an independent blower. There are
two sizes of Norsen extractor produced by Willamette
Organics, the P6 (formerly
called the Bob-O-Lator) designed to brew from 50
to 1500 gallons and the smaller P4 (formerly
called the Bitti) designed to brew between 10 and
30 gallons. Also Available is the newly designed BrewMaster
20. This is a complete system that includes the
tank, air pump, P4 Extractor, and air stone diffuser.
