Healthy
soil is alive, so is compost tea. Feed the soil, let the
soil feed the plants.
Compost tea is a watery extract of
plant soluble nutrients and microorganisms derived
from compost.
Use compost tea to:
•
Rebuild soil structure and improve drainage
•
Stimulate root growth and seedling vigor
•
Reduce transplant shock
•
Stimulate flowering and fruit set
•
Encourage growth in stressed plants
•
Protect plants from insects and diseases
Microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi,
protozoa, and nematodes, give soil its structure, water
holding capacity, and the ability to get nutrients to
the plants. This essential web of life in the soil is
damaged when conventional fertilizers and pesticides are used. Compost tea restores
soil ecology by replacing these missing microorganisms.
Compost tea
is the basic component of Willamette Organics BioSolutions
Programs for soil and plant restoration. We generally
brew a balanced bacterial/fungal tea but can also add
various nutrients and microbes to address specific needs.
These teas are an important component of
our integrated program for organic land care. However, single
applications of compost tea can also be purchased for delivery
in the Portland-Salem area of the Willamette valley. Cost
of an application for the average home site is $95.00.
Larger sites or specific applications are by negotiated
contract.
