FAQ
Is it possible to have a beautiful landscape without using synthetic/toxic products?

More so today that ever before. The demand for organic approaches in the US has spawned a booming industry of organic fertilizers and alternatives to synthetic pesticides. Today’s organic land care practitioner has both the knowledge and tools to improve landscape performance through natural methods. Ground and foliar applications of compost tea and compost tea based biological solutions enable both the necessary soil improvement and direct organic plant support for successful organic transition and maintenance.

What is BioSolution?

BioSolution is an enhanced compost tea based liquid spray/soil drench. It contains the essential goodness of compost tea (diverse micro-biology) plus specific microbial inoculants and soluble plant nutrients necessary to improve soil quality and directly feed plants right away. Not only is it a crucial bridge in transitioning to organic land care but also is an all organic freshener for any landscape.

What is compost tea?

Compost tea is a highly concentrated solution of micro-organisms, including bacteria, fungi, protozoa and nematodes as well as humic substances and plant growth promoting nutrients and compounds. It is produced (brewed) by extracting the beneficial microbes from compost into water, aerating the water and adding microbial nutrients to propagate growth. When properly brewed, held and applied, it can not only protect plants from disease directly, but also improve soil quality to make plants more naturally pest and disease resistant.

What are BioSolutions programs?

A range of services are offered by Willamette Organics to meet the market demand. From full organic landscape transition (a comprehensive 1 to 3 year program) to simple soil testing and fertility recommendations, BioSolutions programs are available to fit nearly every need and budget.

Who are Partners in Sustainability™?

Individuals, public facilities and commercial establishments that have made a
commitment, along with Willamette Organics to eliminate the synthetic and toxic
inputs of conventional agriculture and land care. Our partners may wish to remain anonymous or may proudly display a Partners in Sustainability™ sign at their site. Partners in sustainability status is available to BioSolutions program participants who have pledged to help reduce environmentally damaging substances and practices.

Can I have an organically certified landscape?

At this point there is no agency that will certify a landscape as organically managed. However, Willamette Organics is working with Oregon Tilth to create a program that will train organic land care professionals in organic methods and offer accreditation to them for organic land care services. An accredited organic land care professional may then offer organic landscape management under the Oregon Tilth program. This program is expected to be available in 2008.
